In this task I will be explain
how I found my pre-production documents. I will be explain how useful the or
not they were, how did I used them in the production stage and how I would
improve the pre-production for the next project.
When I created my advert, first
thing I had to do was to make sure that I had carefully executed a plan and
created all the pre-production documents required to a make worthy advert that
would attract my target audience and buy the product. Creating the plan confirmed
that I would not miss out any important parts of the pre-production that would
have been very important to making my advert. When creating the plan for the
advert, I wrote different notes and ideas on to paper and turned them into a
storyboard with the different ideas on how the advert should look like. To help
me understand how I was going the layout the advert, I did lots of research on the
areas I need help on for my advert ideas and chosen the best way to go into,
when it came to making my advert. After I had done I had, speak to my group and
decide about what product should be out of the chosen one we inveigle picked.
Finally we chose headphones to advertise.
Storyboard
When creating my storyboard for
my advert I had to think of the important parts of organising the advert. I had
to thinks of how every shot and film techniques is going it fit together and
how it will look when it is completed. Creating the storyboard helped me to
agree on how I would edit my advert and it allowed me to do research with a
number different idea shots to see which ones work best together. When using my
storyboard, it provided me with a good look of how my ideas will look when it
finished and it allowed me to expect which shots would go together. It also gave
me good ideas of which shots to include. During the production stage of my
advert, I went back through the storyboard document to see if I was creating
the advert right, as it was an instruction on creating my advert. But, I could
have improved on my storyboard by adding different shots, like the 360 or
extreme closes up. This is because most of my shots involved of long, wide,
medium and close up. Also what I could have done before I have finished the
advert is that, I could have tested with a range of shots to see which one best
for that scene. Furthermore when it came to the creating the advert I could
have used the storyboard more than once, because when I finished my advert it
did not look like the idea me and my group. So the problem was the filming of
the advert was rushed and they it look was not good. We missed some shot and
had to improvise with the editing.
Shooting schedule and shot list
Another important part of the
pre-production documents is the schedule and shot list. Having these document
is important when it came to creating my advert, as it provide me with help to stay
tack on schedule and know what need to be done I certain areas. Out of the two
me and my group used the shot list more than the shoot schedule because we
filmed at different time and some actors weren’t in some, we had to reschedule.
Also the shot list was good idea of helping us keep organised by showing us how
many shots we could do for a scene or area. Using the shot list, means it
easier for me to carry it around in different shooting areas and it is more
accurate than a shooting schedule because, with the schedule, my group and I
did not uses the schedule as much as the shot list and it was not as accurate
and clear like the storyboard.
Location visit and risk
assessment
When planning the location that
my group and I were going to film, we needed to do the important things. We
needed to make sure that there would be enough space for us to film and we
needed the permission to film there. In the pre-production document, it shows a
map of the school area were we filmed in. It also show how we get there by walking
routes and the bus routes to take. The location sheet would have been useful if
we were a big advertisement agency. It would be helpful because the actors
would need to know where and how to the shooting location. The location sheet
includes some health and safety issues that the actors and the production crew
needed to go through and must follow to make sure that they do not injure them
self’s., for example there was a risk of tripping over weirs. The sheet also
includes the problems that may happen when filming. Than we created a risk
assessment sheet to make sure that all hazed problem are covered and prepared
for. The risk assessment sheet contains the possible dangers that can accrue,
such as running and tripping over, ear damage from the headphones being too
loud and slipping over wet floors. After I measured the necessary hazard and
calculated the probability of the hazard actually happening, to make sure that,
when filming it would be safe for the actors and production crews. When
completing the risk assessment, the group was able to manage the hazard and
make sure that the crew were safe from any risks. But we could have improved
risk assessment, if we had been more accoutre about the risk levels meaning
going in detail with them.
Cast and crew
The cast and crew contact details
for the pre-production document stage was not important, as our group is not a
big advertisement agency. We filmed the advert in the school and all the
actors, actresses and production crew were members of the school. So keeping
contacts was not a big problem as we would see each other in school. But it was
still important to keep the contact detail of the crew and cast because someone
could be mission the shooting day or if they may be a change of plans with the
shooting.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I think the
pre-production documents, is worth planning when making an advert or any type
of production, as it help the process keep organised and running smoothly. The
pre-production advert helped me to make sure that everything went according to
plan and the advert turned out good. But however, there are some important
improvement that the team would make if they had to do it again. Firstly the team
would make the storyboard more accurate and show precisely what the team is
going to do. Secondary the team would make sure that they organise the document
more wisely, as we need to be able to see it and make sure the documents can
helps us more. Lastly we would use all the documents rather than a few selected
because it will give us a better you at the situation at hand.
Talha, you have forgotten to write about your budget.
